Christmas Decor Inspiration

There is something so magical about the holidays. I love how beautiful the decorations can be and they always add a special warmth to the season. I really miss my preferred Christmas aesthetic, but I'm slowly getting into my Florida Christmas groove. Yesterday I walked Georgia Ave and had an overload of inspiration thrown at me. There were disco ball + peony Christmas trees, sparkles, and just lots of fun to be had by all. Below are a few pins that are also inspiring me to tone it back a bit and maybe marry the two styles.

Tis the season to decorate,

Three Recipes I'm Trying this August

I'm trying to get back into fighting shape and a big part of that is focusing on a healthier diet in addition to increasing my cardio. I've been working on getting into a workout routine (with some success) and it's time for me to reevaluate my diet and work in some easy, healthy recipes that ideally have minimal cooking! I've been perusing pinterest  for inspiration and referencing my favorite cookbooks. I'd also really love to get into batch cooking again. Below are three recipes that made the cut and I'll be trying this month!

I better run to the grocery store!

Apartment Inspiration: Jungle Fever

Recently, I've been inspired by anything junglesque - cheetahs, greens, and pink (because pink makes a lot of sense in the jungle). These are a few images that are inspiring me to update my room in the apartment:

Plants can make for some awesome room decor and would totally go with  my fave color - pink!

Anything animal print is welcome at all times and for any room.

This is such a cute desk inspiration picture...too bad I have a really fab mirror over it instead. I'll have to find another place to put floral decor!

Definitely feeling the greens here and the dresser - for some reason it reminds me of a catalog chest an explorer would use.

Architecture: The American Standard Buliding

CDL and I were walking last week and discussed how we don't know the NYC architecture as well as we should. I'm making it my mission to look up buildings of note so I can now learn all the fun facts about my city. First up on the list? The American Standard Building. Located in Bryant Park, The American Standard Building, originally called the American Radiator Building, was built in 1924 for the American Radiator Co. The black brick symbolizes coal and the gold details symbolize fire!

Details: Small Spaces

Living in the city has taught me to seriously limit my purchases. Now everything I purchase has to be deliberate and have to have a home before it gets home. I'm constantly finding inspiration on Pinterest to help me with the small details.

I'm always looking for ways to bring in more artwork, but still keep the space light.

Note to self: be more selective about beauty products in the shower.

You can always find a place for organized clutter and make it work.

Bar carts are fabulous and not just for alcohol.

Coffee tables should be filled with books, nuts, and flowers to inspire conversation.

Back Home!

As much as I loved Nantucket, I'm happy to be home!

(Even though I really miss the beach and AEB time!)

Typical Thursday

Last year, if you had asked me what a typical Thursday consisted of, I would have answered something along the lines of going to a party, then to the bar, and then home.
(this wasn't ever really willingly, but I have the best of friends who never let me become the hermit I always wanted to be.)

Now, I have my wish and can be as much a hermit as I want!
(Sadly, I thought it would be more fun than it actually is.)

Mission: Take Time Out For Pilates

Earlier this year I spent some time doing pilates and found that I really loved it! I am not the most flexible person you will meet, so pilates was amazing for me! I got significantly better and almost was able to touch my toes!

I ended up stopping for awhile, but I'm going to try to get back into it next week!

tri-state area, i think we are in for a snowy winter!
(i hope the city doesn't look like this again...it was simply impossible to do any shopping!)

i might complain a little bit (ok, a lot) but i am enjoying the activities we can participate in!

Nostalgia For The Early 90s

F found a bunch of pictures from when my cousins and I were younger...I decided to share a few of my favorite finds!

thoughts on scarecrows

don't get me wrong, i love halloween. i mean who doesn't love the one day out of the year you can dress up like a princess and not have the entire world be like "who is that weirdo walking around" but there are a couple of downfalls. the main one being stupid scarecrows. i don't know about you guys but i hate scarecrows...i keep driving past them and think

1. there is a dead person sprawled across the stairs
or
2. someone is about to get robbed

so inevitably i almost crash into something (usually a mailbox or a tree) trying to figure out what is going on! sooo, sorry for all the people that are fans (which seems to be everyone in my neighborhood)...

they are totally not as cool as the wizard of oz leads you to believe!

Library Love

I thought I would share with you guys where I have been applying to jobs for the past couple of weeks.

It's hard to get work done at home and what place is better then the local library? It also helps when you have friends (AMC) doing hard work in a different library to keep you motivated. We were always library buddies and wish that she was with me in our cozy sweaters!

Maybe I'll become a librarian due to my addiction and dedication to all books...
