Currently...

Whew! It's been awhile since I last caught up with everyone here. I'll make this update quick (although I probably have a lot to say). While it's been a hot minute since I've updated here...I have been keeping everyone up to date on instagram. Don't forgot to follow towerhouse for day to day inspiration. Below is a roundup of what I've been up to this summer and beyond!

...Turning 30! Whoa - it finally happened. I'm 30! It feels weird but also a little anti-climatic. I celebrated with my closest friends and family at Palma in the West Village and went dancing at Arthur's right after that.

...Obsessing over the Barefoot Contessa's 4th of July menu. My friends don't know this yet, but I plan on recreating it for them, which is actually pretty doable because a grill isn't needed for any of the recipes! Major win for this city girl.

...Celebrating my new job. I started working earlier this summer for an auction house, managing thier bids department. While I didn't think it would be my dream job...it kind of is! I love the people I work with, the company is inspiring, and I am fully immersed in art and design. Cheers to being employed!!

...Visiting Greece and Rome! While I only made it to Rome for a day, I totally enjoyed what I call my philistine tour. I got to see a few things on my bucket list (from the outside, sadly) but I got just enough of a taste to be motivated to plan my next trip! Greece was business as usual - it's one of my favorite places to visit simply because there is something to discover on every corner and it's just easy to visit. I'll be writing a few different travel guides in the coming months, so stay tuned!

Happy Friday!

Pretty Pins for Spring Weather

It's finally spring and my allergies are in full bloom. Despite the constant stuffed up nose, I've been enjoying walks on the Highline, time out in the country, and even getting a bit of spring cleaning done! Below I'm rounding up a few images that has been inspiring me this past week and getting me in a warm weather mood.

Happy Monday!

Party Planning: Bridesmaid Dress Preview

Next week I'm hosting a little apres work get together for a few girls I'm in a wedding with to try on bridesmaid dresses we ordered awhile back. As you all know, I love having friends over and what is more fun than casual cocktails and trying on dresses? Below is some inspiration I've pulled for the event and you can see the final result next week on the towerhouse instagram!

We've been emailing about tentative dates, but once we finalize I want to confirm the date and send out an official invite! Could this one from paperless post be more perfect? It's cheeky and on theme and while I wish there was more color, I think it will do.

As this is all going to be happening right after work, I want to make sure I have something quick and easy to prepare so I can focus on the dresses. My favorite go to crowd pleaser is a charcuterie plate and I might pick up a few supplements depending on how hungry everyone is.

I jump at any chance to bring in fresh flowers to the apartment and what better excuse than a party? The more the merrier I say, especially when it comes to tulips - but I'll take peonies too! I work right near the flower district so I'll be able to quickly pick some up that morning.

We already have the dresses ordered and en route to me so I'll need to steam them and hang them up - I'm thinking it will be fun to pick up some cute hangers or come up with a fun way to present them in a more chic and fun way than just my standard black hangers. I love the ideas of a bow!

Since the party is after work, I know not everyone wants to get crazy. That being said - I think it would be so fun to come up with a fun signature drink and make a small batch! I'm thinking something that pairs well with wine so as to avoid hangovers (or poor dress decisions). In an ideal world it would be rose lemonade, but it's probably not "weather appropriate" so I'll keep looking.

I think in a different life I was a party planner. Happy hosting!

Ritz Paris Auction at Artcurial

It's no secret I fell in love with Paris almost 10 years ago and I'm always looking for any excuse to go back. The other day I was perusing my favorite French auction house's calendar (Artcurial for those wondering) and saw they were hosting a five day auction for the Ritz Paris. I seriously am itching to go back so I could see the preview in all of it's glory and maybe get in a few travel snaps and instagram posts as well. While I never got the chance to stay at the hotel before it went under renovation, I'm totally ok with the next best thing - owning a piece (or 5+) of Ritz Paris history. Imagine all of the stories these pieces could tell! I can't get enough of the sumptuous velvets, chic furniture in the style of Louis XVI, and the pink and blue details throughout. Below are a few of the pieces I wish I could bid on for my dream Paris apartment....or my current NY studio!

Happy hunting!

Currently....

Is anyone else ready to skip spring and jump right on to summer? This last storm really got to me (even though it's always nice to get in one last snowy instagram post in - are you following me yet? You should be!) While this week wasn't that exciting, I do have a few things coming up that I'm really looking forward to! With out further ado, here's what I've been up to this week....

Getting excited for all of my upcoming getaways! I'll be kicking if off with Brittney and Sean's wedding in Charleston and I'll be ending in Palm Beach with Cait and Dana...but I'll admit to planning a slightly bigger trip in honor of my 30th birthday later this spring/summer.

Loving the Lilly Pulitzer X Pottery Barn collection. While Lilly hasn't been resonating with me recently (the last few times I've popped in everything looked cheap) I can always get behind their prints and these don't disappoint! I can't wait to pop in and check it out in store.

Thinking about taking a creative writing class with the Irish Arts Center in NY. I've been a supporter of the IAC for quite some time now and would love to take it a step further and start taking classes there. The writing class seems like a natural fit, as I'm a huge reader and want to get back into writing.

Hoarding all of my girl scout cookies! I am such a sucker for samosa it's not even funny. Sadly for me Henry ate all of my thin mints, but I'm currently scouring pinterest for an alternative recipe.

Temping with my Aunt until I find a job. This is the least exciting of all my updates, but my job search is lagging and I want to keep busy, so this is perfect! Luckily she knows I'm job hunting so it's not awkward if I need to bow out for a bit for an interview or to take some time for a job application.

Happy Friday!

Pretty Pins for Anyone Who is Spring Ready

Remember when I said I was flying down to PB for a girls trip a few weeks ago? We didn't make it out - but we're back on track and rescheduled for mid-April! We all have never had to cancel a trip before, so I think it's safe to say this was a learning experience for all of us. That being said, I'm so sick of all the storms and ready for Spring to finally arrive. Does anyone else feel that way? I've rounded up a pins to remind me spring is just around the corner and you can, of course, follow the towerhouse instagram for spring themed adventures.

Happy almost Friday!

Currently...

It's been a pretty big two months with lots of changes going on - some good and some not so good. Here are a few quick updates + I'm excited to be getting this blog back on track! You can follow along on the towerhouse instagram for some more updates too.

Looking for a new job! I was laid off about a month and a half ago and am scrambling to find a new job before my severance package is gone. I've been looking at other options in the meantime, like real estate and temp work to hold me over but still keeping my fingers crossed for a new job!

Watching the tv show When Calls the Heart - I hate myself for loving it, but something about this show has really drawn me in. I think it might be the whole fantasy of living in the middle of nowhere with no access to technology I've had for most of my life that's getting to me.

Flying down to Palm Beach for a girl's trip with Cait and Dana! I'm super excited to show my two besties why I love PB so much. Now that I'm unemployed I'm seriously considering a move down there...but don't tell my parents just yet!

Preordering this CLAYTON jumpsuit! I always love the idea of a jumpsuit but struggle to find ones that I like and fit well. I'm hoping this one fits well, because I love it. Stay tuned for more fit and style information. If only it had come in time for my PB getaway.

Talking all about The Gold Gala on the towerhouse instagram. This year I was in charge of the decor and can officially say that I rediscovered my love of arranging flowers and have spent a lot of time in the (always instagramable) flower district here in NY. I'm also beyond thrilled to say we've raised $157,000 at the event, and $800,000 since it's inception - what a huge pinch me moment!

That's all I've been up to the past few weeks - what about you?

Artist Love: Bo Bartlett

I was invited to the Bo Bartlett Center's opening next week and while I sadly can't make it I was reminded all over again how much I love his work. He's a realist painter, focusing on American life and cultural heritage (according to his website). A lot of articles and interviews I read reference how earnest he is as a person, which is certainly reflected in his work. It doesn't alienate the viewer and can be enjoyed at face value but there are also layers to the paintings that if you look closer you can see a more deeper meaning. One day I aspire to own an original work of his, but until then I'm saving my pennies for a print! Below are a few of my favorite works of his and a  peek into his chic studio in Maine.

Pretty Pins for a Freezing Cold Weekend

Hello + Happy New Year! I can't believe it's already 2018. It seems like just yesterday I was putting together my gift guides and wrapping up Christmas gifts. Did you see my star assistant on instagram? I apologize for the unannounced blogging break! I spent Christmas on Long Island and then flew down to Palm beach for my annual New Years trip. I'm not a major New Years person, so PB is the perfect place for me to spend the holiday. I flew back and promptly landed right before a major snow storm with below below freezing temperatures predicted for the weekend. Needless to say I've been doing my best to stay warm and dry. Below are a few pictures I'm inspired by to get through this chilly blast.
