Needlepointing for the Soul

I'm thrilled to say that I checked off my first of many 101 in 1001 goals for 2022! I finally finished a needlepoint project this past weekend! Over Christmas break I bought a canvas to work on, but I think it was a bit too ambitious to take on as a new needlpointer. Fast forward to last Friday, when I popped over to Lycette for a sip and stitch where I not only made a new friend or two, but started a new and more manageable project. I completed a fabulous Evil Eye canvas that reminded me of my family trips to Greece. I intend to make it into a Christmas ornament! I came into the store in a bad mood, but forced myself to go and ended the night on a total high - the perfect kick off to a great weekend. When I put down "finish a needlepoint project" on my 101 in 1001 list I didn't realize how enthusiastic and welcoming the needlepoint community was and I'm so glad to have landed with such a fun group. I can't wait to start on my next project and share many more with my new friends!

Cheers to almost Thursday,

Casual At Home Wishlist

Recently I feel myself seeking out everyday comfort for weekends at home. I'm still sussing out my Florida style and I can't help but love the colorful, casual and very put together look everyone seems to have. That being said, when I'm at home I want comfort and ease but still able to run and errand or two without shame. I'm still in Florida winter mode and a solution I'm feeling is a chic cashmere set, light makeup and just calling it a day. Below are a few of my picks for my casual at home look.

Pretty Pins for Rest and Relaxation

Sometimes you just have a solid weekend and this was one of those feel-good, indulgent weekends. After a disastrous week I needed a weekend to get back into a better headspace. I'm not sure how well that worked out for me, but I did find that a little bit of retail therapy and good company went a long way. I spent the weekend meeting new people and treating myself to a few new outfits - both were desperately needed treats. As I branch out and find my way down in Florida I still need to remember to take time for myself to just relax and rest up. Below are a few pins inspiring me this week and for lots of rest and relaxation ahead.

Happy Monday!

How I'm Getting My Life In Order

Currently the biggest project on my plate is getting my life in order. Since the pandemic, I am embarrassed to admit how completely I let myself go. Think two haircuts in almost 3 years, about a month of workouts in just as long, and living off of takeout - just to name a few things that have gone sideways. I pride myself on my positive attitude and can-do spirit, so I'm not going to dwell on this but focus on how I can get back to place where I'm confident and my self-esteem is in a healthier spot. While I have a long way to go, I'm eager to jump in with small, incremental changes that feel natural and true to me but still bring me out of my shell just a bit.

Joining a gym and moving again. I used to walk 6 miles a day but once the city started to deteriorate and masks became the norm that number drastically reduced. Now I'm anxious to get back on track at the gym and am thinking of investing in a few personal training sessions to get me started. I'd also love to incorporate my old morning walk routine back into the mix. We'll see how it goes!

Schedule regular haircuts, waxing appointments and the occasional spa day. Once the weight started to pile on I was discouraged and let all aspects of my appearance go. Keeping myself on a regular beauty routine may feel so silly, but sometimes it's those little things that give me a boost.

Getting involved in charity work, clubs, and museum memberships. I need to make more friends and this may be a way for me to meet likeminded people. It's a great starting point to at least get me active in the community and practice being social again. Making new friends as an adult is so awkward but it is something that I need to get past. Here's to hoping I make a new friend soon!

Planning to move out of my parent's house sooner rather than later. I'm so thankful I have the opportunity to stay with my parents during this transition. One because it's nice to get so much family time and two because I have really been able to put aside money and get my finances in order.  I will admit though, I miss my own space and all of my stuff. I'm eager to make the next step and getting a house of my own.

Updating my wardrobe to be more Palm Beach me. In New York I wore all black all the time - it was and is still my favorite. But I also love pinks, creams, tans, and blues so incorporating more of that into my Florida wardrobe just may balance out my distinctly NY look.

How is it only Wednesday?
