Artist Love: Bo Bartlett

I was invited to the Bo Bartlett Center's opening next week and while I sadly can't make it I was reminded all over again how much I love his work. He's a realist painter, focusing on American life and cultural heritage (according to his website). A lot of articles and interviews I read reference how earnest he is as a person, which is certainly reflected in his work. It doesn't alienate the viewer and can be enjoyed at face value but there are also layers to the paintings that if you look closer you can see a more deeper meaning. One day I aspire to own an original work of his, but until then I'm saving my pennies for a print! Below are a few of my favorite works of his and a  peek into his chic studio in Maine.

Pretty Pins for a Freezing Cold Weekend

Hello + Happy New Year! I can't believe it's already 2018. It seems like just yesterday I was putting together my gift guides and wrapping up Christmas gifts. Did you see my star assistant on instagram? I apologize for the unannounced blogging break! I spent Christmas on Long Island and then flew down to Palm beach for my annual New Years trip. I'm not a major New Years person, so PB is the perfect place for me to spend the holiday. I flew back and promptly landed right before a major snow storm with below below freezing temperatures predicted for the weekend. Needless to say I've been doing my best to stay warm and dry. Below are a few pictures I'm inspired by to get through this chilly blast.
