Tuesday Motivation

“On some positions, Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expedience asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ And Vanity comes along and asks the question ‘Is it popular?’ But Conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ … The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge, moments of great crisis and controversy.”

Pretty Pins for Letting Go

Letting go doesn't come naturally to me - at all. This past week has been especially trying and I've been struggling to let go of the negative emotions and thoughts. I don't know why I hold onto negativity but I'm making an active effort to just move on and let go of the small stuff. It's neither productive or healthy and gets me nowhere. Yesterday morning my cousin tried to coach me through it and while I admire his ability to drop things and move on, I'm just not built that way. This week my goal is to start working on a process that works for me so I start moving on from negativity in a way that is authentic to me. Below are a few pins inspiring me to move on and let go of the small stuff.

Trying weeks ahead,

Currently...

Talking myself out of what feels like a major ongoing shopping spree. I have been on a shopping binge recently, which needs to stop. Instead, I need to write down a targeted list of things I want vs things I need and determine where to go from there. I have bigger goals to reach that I fell behind on this summer! Fall will be a total reset and re-investment in my future.

Coming back from Palm Beach! After almost 2 years of sticking to the tri-state area I finally made it to Palm Beach. In the past travel was something I took for granted, but never again. Travel is a total privilege and this trip felt like the ultimate treat. It was such a boost to get out of the city and I'm so happy because I even got to check something off my 101 in 1001 list! (More about that coming next week!)

Hoping I don't need to replace my laptop. It feels like it's on the fritz and getting close to the time to be replaced. We have had a great run - almost 9 years - but I'm starting to notice little quirks that are ok for now, but are definitely a sign that I may need to replace sooner rather than later. I'm going to somehow work it into my budget.

Committing to another 30 day fitness challenge. When it comes to working out, I realize now that I need a plan to keep me focused and staying the course. When I got the email about the July TSS challenge it felt like perfect timing, I was coming off of my 33rd birthday and feeling self-conscious about my body, so I went for it and signed up. I can attest that it really made all the difference and while I may not have been the most graceful or engaged every day, but I stayed the course, was consistent, and finished. If you're curious about signing up for the TSS program you can read more about my thoughts here

Planning a deep clean out of my closet. It's overflowing with clothes that I simply do not wear and need to be retired at this point. I'm emotional when it comes to editing my clothes, but it's gotten to the point where my closet is simply unmanageable and I feel crazy just looking at it. Ugh!

Weekend ready even though I just got back,

The Sculpt Society: Quick Review and My Thoughts

When I created my 101 in 1001 list I knew one of my goals was to be consistent with a workout. I have always struggled with sticking to a plan and thought that maybe adding a manageable fitness goal to my list would add some extra motivation. I was right! A few months ago I signed up for Megan Roup's The Sculpt Society (TSS for short). I found the classes to be fun, quick, and challenging. Right off the bat I hit my workout groove, but a few weeks later there was a major change in my schedule and I fell a bit off the wagon. I finally had a wake up call moment a few weeks after the schedule change and realized I need to get serious about my fitness routine and work off the weight I gained. It was fate because the day before I was thinking this (right after my 33rd birthday) I got an email about a 30 day July challenge - after a few minutes of debate I signed up for the class and voila - I lost 5lbs and checked off another one of my 101 in 1001 goals

If you're thinking of signing up I recommend the yearly subscription option, as it's the best deal and will keep you on track. The classes can be tough and you do see results pretty quick if you are consistent. I especially love that there are classes as short as 5 minutes, but they can go up to 45 minutes or so! It's a great mix of cardio and sculpting videos to choose from and I'm never bored. A bonus is having the many short classes, which makes it harder to skip a day. Megan has also introduced some new instructors, which has been fun and a good addition overall. I also love that you can do the workouts with or without the equipment, although I do recommend having hand weights on hand. Regardless, the workouts will still have you burning without the bands, sliders, and ball. My only wish is that the live classes weren't during the day, simply because I don't work remote and would love to do the live classes in real time for more of a studio feel. Luckily the classes are live for at least 24 hours so you can catch up! The only other thing to note is that some of the challenges cost extra, which I understand - I just wish the classes stayed up past the challenge dates. I'm so excited and ready for my next TSS challenge - are you with me?

Getting back into the fitness swing of things,

Pretty Pins for Making Waves

It's unfortunate that summer is starting to wind down, because I feel like I'm just getting into my summer groove. Between (what feels like) endless bad weather, additional stress with variants and new rules, and next to no time to decompress I've definitely had a summer. I'm nostalgic for the summers of my twenties where I could read on the beach all weekend and hang out with friends all night. I'm grateful for the  brief moments of friend time this summer and my upcoming trip to Palm Beach, but as this summer comes to a close I feel like I'm beginning to make waves in my life. I know I'm on the cusp of something, but don't know exactly what it is - all I know is that I'm ready for what comes my way. Below are a few pins inspiring me for the week ahead.

Cheers to a new week,
