Hi! I missed a day of posting, but I wasn't feeling inspired and, as I've mentioned in previous posts, I don't like just dialing it in. When everything is closed and there aren't many plans, inspiration can come in waves. I find inspiration everywhere. No matter how big or small, I can find something to inspire. In the rare moments I find myself feeling a bit of ennui coming on I turn to the familiar and sometimes just the simple act of going back to my roots brings a new, fresh perspective. Below are a few ways I find inspiration, which I hope inspires you.
I love the simple act of writing. It's therapeutic and allows me to slow my mind down in a way that still feels productive. I've mentioned it before, but journaling has become a big part of my life and it has only helped me grow. Even now, I'm sitting at my table and the words are just flowing.
I love revisiting my favorite books. I get so much satisfaction when I discover new details or find new passages and images that inspire me, when they didn't before. I'm still pretty old school when it comes to owning actual books for this reason alone. Reading and flipping through a book is pretty meditative for me!
Walking around the city or out in the country is also a major source of inspiration for me. When I need a fresh perspective I put on my shoes and get outside. My neighborhood is vibrant, fun, and a great place to walk around.
My apartment is another source of inspiration for me. I wake up every morning and think "how lucky am I to live where I do?" Every. Single. Day. I think that filling an apartment up with things I love and have collected over the years, combined with the stunning view I have is what I find so inspiring. While above it not my apartment, it's similar in style.
I also find where I work to be inspiring. There is a constant flow of new pieces coming into the gallery and you get to meet so many cool and in the know people. To be surrounded by art, antiques, and a great group of people, it's hard not to be inspired.
Happy Thursday,
ARS xx
