Fashion Spotlight: Tibi

I was talking with JAW the other day about out love of Tibi (she's the bigger fan, hands down) and can I just say I can't get enough of the black lace clothes they have right now? It's totally a Summer version of Morticia's style...which is perfect for me!

These are just a few of my faves.

Beach Picnic Essential: Vino2Go

Nothing is better than cocktails (or wine, if you're into that) on the beach. Something that can be a bit of a buzzkill, for me at least, is the sand that gets into my drink. I can either choose to stop taking fun pictures or start using these Vino2Go and Brew2Go cups. Obviously I'm choosing the cups!

Party Planning: Baby Showers

So Kate Middleton had her baby and everyone is beyond excited! Not that I'll be planning a baby shower anytime soon, but it's always good to keep ideas in mind for the future!

How much fun are these invitations?! I love this bright pink + blue combo.

Heart shaped balloons would be appropriate (and fun!).

This pink + blue tablescape is also fun and bright!

If someone knew the gender of the baby, this would be such a fun way to announce it.

Tips for Special Event Eye Makeup

Makeup, for me, is saved only for nights where I have an event to attend. So when I wear it, I usually think it's fun to add a bit of 60s glam with faux lashes. While I haven't exactly mastered the art of putting them on myself (thank GOD for my friend who is a pro), I'm sure I'll get there some day. Especially now that I have my Shu Uemura lashes and glue. To add some extra drama, I make sure to add some black eyeliner and black waterproof mascara on the bottom lashes. To finish off the look I'll use a neutral lip, because no one wants to look overdone, ever.

DIY Projects for Parties and the Home

I know I'm not the only Pinterest addict here who blindly will pin a DIY project just because it looks good, not thinking about the actual execution. Every single project I try never looks as good as they do in pictures. This hasn't stopped me yet (and probably never will). These are a few fun projects I want to try next:

How fun are these paper flowers? They would be perfect for a spring party!

These paper lanterns are pretty fab and party appropriate too.

To be honest, this is probably the only craft I would able to successfully do from start to finish. All you need is so colorful spray paint and a pretty black mat.

Breakfast Epiphanies

Refer to these maps to find out where the hipsters are in other cities. Then avoid...forever.

An oldie but a goodie, this article covers some of my fave Karl quotes.

I love minions and want a couple for myself, so it was cool to read about the inspiration behind these adorable yellow creatures.

More reasons to start writing letters again!

My New BKR Obsession

I don't think words can describe how happy I am that I purchased a voucher for two BKRs on GILT awhile back. I've had my eye on them for awhile, but the price was never right so when it finally was, I jumped on it. I'm hooked and totally would spend the full price on these colorful water bottles. The bonus? I get to look like I'm "green" while using it. The light pink and lilac were my 2 colors of choice and was not disappointed.

Just as an aside, my BKR comes with me everywhere, even when I go to concerts in Central Park where they will make you check it in with the strollers. After the concert, I was forced to lie and say I was picking up a stroller instead of a water bottle - just in case you decide to do the same thing!

Party Planning: Craft Time!

We're pretty into crafts at my house and like to celebrate and share our obsession with friends. Every year, close to Christmas time we plan a craft party. I think it would be fun to throw one every couple of months. If I were to plan a Summer one, which might be happening soon, I would have a lot of things I want to do!

First, I would need to pick the crafts. This Anthropology list caught my eye, because honestly, who doesn't love Anthro? The hardest part will be choosing which ones to do!

Because it's Summer, and I'm obsessed with lavender and lemonade, the logical drink choice would be lavender lemonade, but the Glitter Guide has some other great suggestions I would consider.

Snacks would obviously be provided, starting with my personal fave - pigs in a blanket

Leontine Linens

I'm on the hunt for some new and improved bedding. I've always loved monograms and, while I wouldn't want everything monogrammed, it could be fun to have one large pillow monogrammed. While looking through my files gathered from my magazine project, my love for Leontine Linens was rediscovered. While these gorgeous linens aren't in my current price range, I'll keep on searching (and maybe order something else for the bathroom from the website).

Kate Spade Gingham

Oh gingham, how I do love thee. I've loved gingham since forever, and totally am totally green with envy whenever CMJR rocks her green gingham CK Bradley dress. Luckily, last year I was able to snag my green gingham shoes and totally took advantage of the Kate Spade gingham collection this year to build my gingham collection. Even better, a lot of it is on sale now!

WANDERLUST: Ashikaga Flower Park,Tochigi, Japan

I die over these flowers. How amazing would it be to see these in real life? Added motivation to make Japan my latest destination.

Castaner Espadrilles

I think I need to buy these Castaner espadrilles  in every color. I've never gotten more compliments on my legs or shoes then when I wear them. Not only do they make your legs look amazingly fit, they are beyond comfortable and you can pretty much wear them with almost everything, which is key for Summer weekend packing.

Party Planning: Saturday Afternoon Beach Picnic

This weekend I'm going to a BBQ picnic. These are always fun because they are super casual and everyone can come.

So in an ideal world I'd be able to spread drink buckets all over, but that's not exactly practical when at the beach...a cooler is. Still, a girl can dream!

This ringtoss set is a great way to bring some color to the party (and keep the kids entertained).

What's great about parties on the beach is that there is no pressure to leave by a certain time, so you can enjoy a (hopefully) stunning sunset, like the above one.

Obviously these would be everywhere, because who doesn't love wearing a lei!?

Last, but not least, it would be important to find the perfect grill, so everyone can eat.

Bauble Bar's SOHO Pop Up Shop

I discovered Bauble Bar awhile ago, but never really ordered from it just because when it comes to costume jewelry I'd prefer to see it in person before committing. I've learned the hard way things can look fab online and in person leave a lot to be desired. Needless to say, I was super pumped when I read about the Bauble Bar pop up store opening in SOHO. To make this even more fun (and motivate me more) they host fun events in the store too. Well, last week I stopped in and had lots of fun trying on the jewelry and picking up a few presents for my little cousin and a really cute tassel necklace for myself!

Etsy Love List

I have an ongoing love affair with Etsy and have quite the list of things I want from the site.

This chair is perfect for the Summer! I'm particularly obsessed with the hot pink stripes.

I love hair clips, and these bee ones are so fun!

Calling cards - because I still need some.

Jean Paul Gaultier

Is anyone else obsessed with the Fall 2013Jean Paul Gaultier Couture show?

July Goals

July is kind of a wild month for me - almost all of my friends will be away for 10 days in Nantucket...without me. I'm ok with that though, because I got to go to Paris by myself, which is like 10x better. I'll also be prepping for a couple of upcoming trips.

Come up with a budget, which Learnvest will totally help me with....I hope.

Actually stick to my budget.

Lastly, relax on the beach a bit more - which will totally help with the whole budget thing.

Drybar in Bottle Form

OK so it's no secret that I'm addicted to getting blow outs from DryBar. If you didn't know, now you know!  Needless to say, I was really excited when they started offering products to use when blowing out your own hair. I'm particularly happy that now my hair products will match and make my cabinet look ever more organized, ha! My personal faves (and go to's) include:

I don't wash my hair often (much to my parent's dismay) so this is the perfect solution. It not only smells fab, but adds much needed volume to my hair.

Because I have some of the world's most flat and boring hair, I'll take any kind of volume I can get. This is amazing and, let's be honest, with "Southern Belle" as part of the name, how can you not get lots volume with this?

Although I'm not afraid of hair products (apparently there are people who are?), I must say I'm not a huge hairspray person. I'm happy to say that I actually like this one.
