in the spirit of black friday

i know that black friday has come and gone and the shopping frenzy has died down (slightly) but i must ask (my dad once again yelled at me for my retail therapy habit) will obama's health care cover my retail therapy? if not i am going to have to find a solution immediately.

on a happier note! it finally has started to snow up here in the arctic. i'm thrilled that it started today and not yesterday because i had to make the trek back up to school and it was absolutely miserable. i accidently forgot my suitcase and when i restarted my journey a gang of about 30 bicyclers cut me off. are you kidding me?? this is why i hate bikers. they are so rude to drivers and they don't even go fast and if you try to pass them they like expand the pack so you can't. anyway, to add to my frustration not only did i hit like 3 hours of traffic to get over the throgs neck and then i hit traffic on every single highway because of accidents. and to put the icing on the cake it started to rain when i got out of my car. whatever, at least i made it safe and sound. i hope that all the people in the accidents are ok too!!

Nanook of the North Meets Southern Belle

I'm a really nice and considerate person. Obviously. So it was only natural of me to think of my sister coming up from a much more southern climate. Well, maybe I should have been a little bit selfish in this case. I thought it would be nice to have a warm house for Caroline to come home to. Sooo I put the heat on (it was like 40 degrees out). Umm big mistake considering I'm used to like 20 degrees and I sleep in a room with all the windows open. I thought I was going to die of heatstroke last night. It had to be at least 3 million degrees in my room. At least Caroline was comfortable.

Sisterly love at it's best!

HOME

i love being home. (yes, i did make it home safe even though i somehow got lost in yonkers!?) as soon as i get home all i want to do is just relax and not do anything. however, this break i want to tackle a project that i have been wanting to do forever. organize my books and get yet another (this will be my 3rd) bookcase. i currently keep all of my book in my extra ck bradly bags behind my reading chair. i love my books and it kills me to see them not stored properly!!

ok i'm off to find some new books and another bookcase!!

Home

I can't wait to go home and sleep (maybe jump and read...) in my own bed. Early AM wakeup so I can drive home.

Sidenote: this is the first time I'll have someone to drive home with (9 miserable hrs)!!!

not so much a winter wonderland

i checked my mailbox for the first time in about a month (no worries i never get mail) and i happened to see my favorite catalogue ever. gorsuch. the sweaters make me long for winter nights where i can cuddle in front of a fire in my favorite dale sweater.

too bad winter is never going to come!

the secret garden

why not read the secret garden again. a couple weeks ago kevy mentioned that she was going to watch the secret garden because she was sick. these pictures just reminded me of that.

"My name is Mary Lennox. I was born in India. It was hot, and strange, and lonely in India. I didn't like it. Nobody by my servant, my ayah, looked after me. My parents didn't want me. My mother cared only to go to parties. And my father was busy with his military duties. I was never allowed to go to the parties. I watched them from my mother's bedroom window. I was angry, but I never cried. I didn't know how to cry." - first lines of the film

while you're at it maybe you should revisit a little princess. these remind me of my childhood and how my mom and dad took me to see them when i was a little girl!!!

be funky

it's sunday morning and last night was our toga party.* so it's pretty safe to say that i went out really late and you might question what am i doing up so early?? shouldn't this girl be asleep? well let me tell you about my curse. i wake up early in the morning sans hangover. you would think it's a blessing but no, it's def not. everyone sleeps until like 11 or 12 and i sit waiting for them. i hate tv and trying to do some hw never gets done. so i have to sit and wait for hours doing nothing. so i decided to show you some of my not so productive sunday morning fun. you can try it too at befunky

this one is my favorite!!

i like this one too

i do not look that great as a cartoon but whatever who cares

* sidenote: i hate toga parties, i hate wearing a sheet and i hate it when people buy fabric so they don't look bad. um hello!! you are not going to look good ever in a toga so you might as well embrace the true toga style. like me. even though i never want to wear a toga again. never.

problematic personality tests

in my intro to psychology class (yes, i am that senior who takes it last minute) we were required to take a personality test. i mean who doesn't love personality tests?? they always are happy and positive in all the magazines and girly websites. well, i think my teacher thought it would be funny to mess with our class or something. i took the test and it said that i was "rude, disorganized, inconsiderate, selfish and close minded" the only thing it had right was that i am conservative. i made sure the teacher was aware that he gave us a faulty personality test, no worries!!

daily candy

not only am i addicted to candy, but i also am addicted to daily candy. they always know the best things that are going on in the city and they have the most adorable illustrations.

if you haven't checked it out you def should!!! they have a lot of different guides for different cities on current things in fashion and food!

they also have a pretty sweet book called "the daily lexicon:words that don't exist but should" perfect for this upcoming holiday season for any of your best friends!!! if you are still concerned that your vocabulary is still not fashionable enough you can always get the "fictionary:words that don't exist but should"

(i feel like i have a couple of good words that could be added or maybe i can just make my own book and put my bookmaking class lessons to work)

All Good Things Must Come To An End

I am absolutely exhausted from this weekend of never ending parties...not that I'm complaining!!! Now I have to write all the papers I've been avoiding and actually do some homework. The only plus is that I have an episode of the biggest loser to watch tonight!!

karl who?

for everyone who doesn't know the karl i'm refering to, i'm talking about karl lagerfeld. you know, the guy that i always missed by 2 minutes when i was in paris. not only are his designs fabulous, but so is his photography. i love the drama and the clothing and the set and the mood and the list goes on...
i also love his bookstore 7L. it has amazing books, among them Karl Lagerfeld and Amy Harlech: Visions and a Decision.

this interview with harper's bazaar also makes me giggle.

i hope the weather isn't as rainy where you are!! happy thursday!!

Henry Through the Ages

Meet my little bro Henry - he is 9 years old and is a wild man. This is him through the ages...(oldest to most recent!)

Henry loves Thor

He also loves the Cheeca Lodge

He's not so happy when I strangle him (as he puts it)

Henry: the sports enthusiast (shown is a small part of my family!)

Henry with the younger cousins

Henry, currently doing his fav thing: dining on a train sipping sparkling apple cider

i must admit that for halloween i love to do things in pairs. usually my cohort is katrina (current status:kenya) but this year i made lila be part of the addams family with me!

halloween was the typical celebration of funny costumes and the typically slutty looking freshmen. but hey...you can make mistakes every once in awhile!
